Time to go to 'Just-in-time'

• Most hospitals carry two or three times the stock they need.
• Omnicell generates cabinet-specific daily orders and sends a requisition to stores saying what it needs to be restocked to pre-set levels, so stock levels can be reduced to safe minimums.
• Orders are then generated directly from Omnicell or via an interface with the purchasing system.
• The goods arrive on a just-in-time basis. The restock technician chooses the restock order on the screen and is guided through the restock bin-by-bin by the guiding lights.
• Once complete, the machine adjusts its stock on the machine and on the server.
